Trump, Lawyer Accused of ‘Criminal Conspiracy’ in 2020 Presidential Election

According to a court filing by the House Select Committee investigating the Capitol Riots, former President Trump and a right-wing lawyer were part of a ‘criminal conspiracy’ to overturn the 2020 presidential election. The filing is part of an attempt to convince a judge to allow the panel to access emails from lawyer John Eastman who is claiming attorney-client privilege. The filing is the most extensive release to date from the investigation committee and comes before the House Select Committee releases it’s final report on it’s findings on Trump. The House Committee also has signaled it might make a criminal referral to the Justice Department about Trump depending on their findings.
Eastman and Trump have not been accused of any crime by federal or state prosecutors and none of Trump’s top advisers have been charged for January 6th related crimes.
