Russia Launches Large-Scale Attack Against Ukraine
Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a large-scale attack against Ukraine overnight. Explosions were reported in multiple cities across the country as troops crossed the borders in the north and south after Putin announced military operations in the Donbas region of Ukraine. The first blasts were heard around 5 am and prompted immediate condemnation from the U.S. and other allies including the European Union and the United Kingdom. Russian forces attacked the country from three sides. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky moved to enact martial law as government ministers accused Moscow of launching the invasion. Traffic is blocking major roadways heading west out of Kyiv near the Russian border and the mayor of Kharkiv urged it’s citizens to remain in their homes. G7 leaders met this morning and Ukranian officials say more than 40 soldiers and as many as 10 civilians have been killed so far.
