SCOTUS Ends Trumps Fight to Block Release of Presidential Documents to Committee Investigating Capitol Riots
The Supreme Court deals another blow to former President Trump… Yesterday the court announced that it will not take up former President Trump’s case challenging the disclosure of his White House documents to the House committee investigating the Capitol Riots. The court previously rejected Trump’s emergency request to block the National Archives from turning over the materials while the justices considered whether to take up the case. The documents Trump was trying to block are already in the hands on the House Select Committee. Yesterday’s order means that the lower court decisions approving the release of the documents will stand. The National Archives is currently in the process of handing over Trump-era presidential and vice-presidential records requested during the investigation with more documents set to be turned over next week.
