Former American Idol Contestant Charged with Fatal DUI in Spartanburg, SC
Former American Idol contestant Caleb Kennedy was charged with a felony DUI after a crash in Spartanburg South Carolina. The 17 year old crashed his truck into a workshop, hitting a 54 year old man working inside. South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers were called to the scene of the crash around 12:40 pm yesterday after Kennedy drove his 2011 Ford pickup onto a private driveway on West Murph Road and ran into a building killing the 54 year old victim identified by the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office as Larry Parris. Parris was taken to the Spartanburg Medical Center where he later died from his injuries and Kennedy was also take to the hospital from injuries sustained in the crash. Kennedy is being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing today. He could face up to 25 years in prison if tried as an adult.
