How to Send Valentine’s Day Greetings to Soldiers and Veterans
Several non-profits throughout the country are hosting Valentine's Day card drives.
Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching and the holiday is a great day to show appreciation to former and current service members. But, what if you don’t know anyone to send it to…Well, several non-profits throughout the country are hosting Valentine’s Day card drives. Here’s how to participate.
“Hugs for Soldiers” is based out of Georgia and they aim to send patriotic cards and letters of appreciation to brave troops all year round. For Valentine’s Day the organizers recommend sending in handwritten letters or notes in an unsealed envelope to their office a few weeks before. That gives them time to screen them before the items are shipped out. Check out their site for more information and the address to send things to!
Another organization, “Operation Gratitude” does something similar. The California-based nonprofit also accepts prepared cards for care packages all year round. While they ask for folks to send in Valentine’s Day greetings they also say that including some extra blank cards make for a special gifts as that then allows soldiers to send something special back home. Send your items to them as soon as possible to make sure they arrive on time. Check out their site for more information on sending packages or donating.
If you’d like to send Valentine’s Day cards to deployed troops and VA hospitals you can do so through ‘Soldiers’ Angels‘. This is a Texas-based nonprofit that is running a “Valentines for Veterans” campaign where civilians can submit store-bought or handmade cards and individually wrapped candy. They do ask that you provide a dollar in cash or a check for shipping in your unsealed card. They are accepting these up until the 14th. Visit this organization’s website for more information!
