Beijing Olympics Being Held in NBA Style Bubble, Positive Tests Reported

The kickoff to the 2022 Winter Olympics is just two weeks away and Beijing is preparing itself to host thousands of athletes, officials, journalists and support staff from around the world. To limit the spread of infection the country is sealing the entire winter games inside a ‘closed loop system’ or bubble cutting it off from the rest of the city. Similar to the NBA bubble in Florida in the final stages of the 2019-2020 season with only 350 people from 22 teams, Beijing will be welcoming about 11,000 people from around the world. On Wednesday, the International Olympic Committee said that so far 1.53% of tests conducted upon arrival are positive and 0.02% of regular screening tests taken inside the bubble are positive, it did not specify the total number of tests in either scenario. As of today, more than 2,000 participants have already arrived in Beijing.
