Judge Rejects Bid to Block Release of Trump’s Tax Returns

Yesterday, a federal judge ruled that the Treasury Department could disclose former President Trump’s tax returns to the house committee that requested them over two years ago. Overnight, Trump’s attorneys told the court they would appeal. The decision initially comes from a case brought by House Ways and Means chairman Richard Neal against the Treasury Department under the Trump administration, when the department rejected his request for the tax returns under a law that allows disclosure of an individual’s tax returns to the committee. The Justice Department also changed its stance in the case yesterday when District Judge Trevor McFadden granted the requests from the department and the House to dismiss the case. McFadden has given Trump 14 days for the opportunity to file his appeal.
