Killer Whales on Paradise Bay Antarctica

The Antarctic Files: A Pair of Pods of Killer Whales on Paradise Bay. On this warm and fuzzy edition of Visions / The Antarctic Files…Herb Malsman, 12 M/S Explorer companions and Larry Hobbs take to their Zodiac, for a chance encounter with a passing pod or two of “Killer” Whales on heavenly Paradise Bay…(Segment 1.) Then, (on Segment 2) Herb and company set sail for Admiralty Bay, King George Island and Comandante Ferraz, a Brazilian Research Base…to see what’s cookin’ and take an impromptu, (and somewhat-unauthorized) walking tour of this ‘home-away-from-home.’ Guests include: members of the wintering party of ’94…and Peter Skog. We anticipate arriving in the mid-to-late-morning, but our exact arrival time is entirely dependent upon the ice conditions we encounter as we steam northwards during the night, (November the 16th.) Our Sunrise is: 0342 / Our Sunset is: 2136. Our “Sea Quote” for the day is from Lord Admiral Nelson- “I own myself one of those who do not fear the shore, for hardly any great things are done in a small ship by a man who does.” Farewell Explorer*. Goodbye Sir Wally. *MS Explorer Sinks in Antarctic Waters 11/23/07 The MS Explorer, a small Canadian cruise ship carrying tourists from 14 nations, including Canada, struck a chunk of ice before dawn Friday 11/22. Twenty hours later, it sank in Antarctic waters.
