Mandates Begin as FDA Grants Full Approval for Pfizer Vaccine

We brought you news yesterday that the FDA granted full approval of the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine for people 16 and older.  That approval is aimed to help persuade those who are vaccine hesitant and help businesses, schools and states enforce vaccine mandates which could help reduce the number of cases in all states. Some universities and employers were quick to issue mandates including hospital systems and New York City mayor Bill de Blasio announced that all Education Department staff in public schools across the city would need to be vaccinated making it the largest school system in the country with the mandate.

Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby said all service members in the U.S. military will be required to be vaccinated.  Also, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced that all state employees were required to get fully vaccinated by October 18th or be subject to regular testing. Over the past week, the number of vaccines administered daily has increased with over a million distributed per day on 3 separate days. The daily average of reported cases is currently around 174,000.
