Horry County Planning Commission Approves Request for New Homes in Longs

Last night, during a packed meeting, the Horry County Planning Commission approved the request for building hundreds of homes off of Highway 90 despite disapproval from several in attendance. Residents along Highway 90 say the area already experiences flooding and major traffic and can’t take anymore. With the two rezoning requests that were approved, one would bring 97 townhomes to Longs at the intersection of Monica Drive and Chestnut Road, the other would bring 527 single-family homes to 222 acres off of Vaught Ridge Road also in Longs. Both of the requests will now go to the Horry County Council for first readings.
