Covid-19: WHO Issues Moratorium, President Biden Targets Governors
The World Health Organization is calling for a moratorium on boosters until at least the end of September. The ‘WHO’ announced yesterday during a briefing in Geneva that they’re calling for the moratorium to enable at least 10% of the population of every country to be vaccinated. A ‘WHO’ official said “so far more than 4 billion vaccine doses have been administered globally. More than 80% have gone to high and upper middle income countries, even though they account for less than half of the world’s population.” Germany, the U.K. and Israel have announced plans to provide booster shots for vulnerable populations.
Meanwhile in the states, President Biden has reprimanded republican governors in some southern states who are standing in the way of mask and vaccine requirements calling out Texas and Florida in particular. On Tuesday Biden said “I say to these governors: please help. But if you aren’t going to help, at least get out of the way, the people are trying to do the right thing. Use your power to save lives.” He also went on to allege some of their decisions, like prohibiting schools from requiring masks or banning vaccine mandates- were unsound.
