Lockdown Lifted at Pentagon After Shooting
Shooting outside Pentagon sparks lockdown.
The Pentagon was on lockdown after multiple gunshots were fired near a bus platform by the facility’s metro station earlier today. No personnel was allowed outside due to the “shooting event”. The Pentagon Force Protection Agency sent a message to personnel ordering them to stay indoors. The metro bus platform is a major entrance to the facility that is used by thousands of employees and staffers every day while entering and exiting the building. Multiple emergency vehicles are reportedly on scene and one witness claimed to have heard more than a dozens shots. Pentagon Force Protection Agency spokesman Chris Layman says the “incident is ongoing and that the scene is not safe.” Layman has warned that people should avoid the area until officials know more. He had no comment about a possible shooter or if anyone had been injured. The lockdown only lasted an hour and a half.
