President Biden to Announce Vaccination Requirements for Federal Employees and Contractors
President Biden is expected to announce vaccination requirements for all federal employees and contractors tomorrow. Under the new requirement, all federal employees and contractors will need to be vaccinated against the Coronavirus or will be required to submit regular testing and mitigation requirements. The announcement will come during a speech in which Biden is also expected to lay out a series of new steps, including incentives in an attempt to encourage unvaccinated people to get the vaccine.
Earlier this month it was announced that the Department of Veterans Affairs will require all of it’s frontline health care workers get vaccinated over the course of the next two months. Yesterday when asked if he would impose a vaccination mandate on federal workers the president said ‘that’s under consideration right now.’ According to a source, the proposal will be similar to what is being implemented in New York City and additional requirements for unvaccinated employees could be added as agencies push to vaccinate their workers. Biden will not impose the requirement on the U.S. military despite his authority to do so for the time being.
