Myrtle Beach Police Officer Jacob Hancher Receives Posthumous Award
Fallen Myrtle Beach Police Officer Jacob Hancher was awarded Volunteer Firefighter of the Year last night. Hancher was given the award during a ceremony by Horry County Fire Rescue. Hancher’s mother, father and colleagues accepted the award on his behalf. In addition to being a police officer, Hancher was also a volunteer firefighter with Horry County Fire Rescue and was a parishioner of St. James in Conway. His mother Suzanne Williams said “he loved this community, he loved the people in this community and he loved giving back to this community.”
