LA County Reinstates Mask Mandates Indoors

One of the nation's most populous counties is reinstating their mask mandate.

Due to the Delta variant causing coronavirus cases to rise, LA county will once again require masking indoors regardless of vaccination status. The ordinance will go into effect late Saturday with some exceptions but, those haven’t been made clear by officials yet. The county’s public health department is expected to release full guidance on the mandate today. A county health officer said “we’re not where we need to be for the millions at risk of infection…and waiting to do something will be too late given what we’re seeing now.” 1,537 new covid-19 infections were reported there yesterday. Currently about 4 million of the county’s 10 million residents are unvaccinated.
