A wild game meat processor made an interesting discovery while examining the contents of an alligator’s stomach. The 12-foot-long, and 445-pound gator had to be removed from private property in the Lowcountry yesterday. The animal was killed by a landowner along the Edisto River, then taken to Cordray’s, a meat market outside Ravenel that butchers and processes wild game. Among the bizarre items that were found inside the alligator were a spark plug and the metal jacket from a bullet, bob cat claws, turtle shell fragments as well as five brass identification tags from dog collars. Only one of the tags had a working phone number listed on it and authorities were able to contact a man who confirmed he had lost a dog 24 years ago while hunting.
