Study Shows Pfizer’s Coronavirus Vaccine 100% Effective in Children Ages 12 to 15.

Pfizer has claimed it’s Coronavirus vaccine to be 100% effective in children ages 12 to 15. Over 2,000 teens were enrolled in the Pfizer vaccine trial in the U.S. Half got the real shot while the other got a placebo. The company says 18 cases of Coronavirus were reported among the teens who got the placebo compared to none in those who got the actual vaccine. Side effects were the same as adults including a sore arm, fatigue and headache. The findings were announced this morning in a press release and have not been peer-reviewed.

In Phase 3 of Pfizer’s clinical trial of adults, the vaccine was found to be around 95 percent effective in preventing symptomatic illnesses and real world data reported by the CDC on Monday showed that number slightly decreased to 90 percent. Pfizer is also studying how well the vaccine works in children ages 6 months to 11 years old. The first doses in that trial were administered last week. The company plans to apply for emergency use authorization for 12 to 15 year olds in the next few weeks.
