City Of Myrtle Beach Denies Permits For Rock Fest

The permit denial comes as the Myrtle Beach City Council has yet to vote on Rock Fest. It marks a major roadblock to make it happen.

The city of Myrtle Beach has denied permits for the proposed Rock Fest.

Southern Entertainment, the group behind the Carolina Country Music Festival, proposed the new festival.

It was set to take place in May and would be a three-day event that would have landed during one of Myrtle Beach’s busiest event season, with two bike weeks, CCMF, spring break and more, that already draw large crowds.

The large events generate revenue but also require significant city resources. One council member said having several events back to back can put a strain on the city’s workforce.
