Boeing 737 Max Set to Return to the Skies

Today the FAA announced that they’re in the final stages of approval for the troubled Boeing 737 max to carry passengers again.
Following two air disasters that killed 346 crew members and passengers, Boeing was forced to ground the 737 max for twenty months. Financial damage to the commercial jetliner manufacturer is estimated at more than 20-billion dollars. That places the 737 debacle among the most expensive corporate mistakes in history, like BP’s Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Boeing has spent 600-million dollars for pilot training and software upgrades in their effort to make the 737 safe to fly again. The global pandemic’s effect on air travel and lingering questions about the airplane’s safety are likely to impact sales for years to come. With the FAA’s approval, the company is expecting other countries will follow suit, ending the longest and largest grounding of a commercial aircraft.
