More States Crackdown as U.S. Reports Record-Breaking Over 150,000 New Covid-19 Cases

More state leaders are enforcing Covid-19 restrictions after the U.S. broke yet another daily record of new cases. According to John Hopkins University, over 153,000 cases were reported yesterday. This is the third consecutive day for record hospitalizations and the tenth consecutive day cases topped 100,000. Not only did this break the previous single-day record set just a day prior, but it’s also once again surpassed the global record. California has now become the second state to report over one million infections alone, bringing the nationwide total to over 10.5 million with at least 242,000 deaths. In response, more state and local leaders are cracking down. In Chicago, Mayor Lori Lightfoot has issued a month-long stay-at-home order with exceptions for work, school or essential needs. The order comes with a curfew that forces non-essential businesses to close between certain hours. Lightfoot warned any business in violation will be fined or shut down. She also asked residents to strongly reconsider their Thanksgiving plans by canceling them altogether.
