NASA’s Latest Discovery on Moon Could be Next Step in Mission to Land Humans on Mars
Following a week of suspense, NASA has finally revealed the ground breaking discovery they made on the moon. The U.S. space agency has released conclusive evidence of “unambiguous” amounts of water on the moon’s surface. At first glance, it appears these findings are nothing new but previous detections were found in permanently shadowed craters. These new water molecules were discovered in sunlit regions. Researchers also believe there is more of an abundance of water there than previously thought. Scientists hope this new discovery could allow for the establishment of a more sustainable and permanent lunar base by tapping into the moon’s apparent natural resources. The findings have already been published as two papers in the journal Nature Astronomy. NASA hopes to send it’s first woman and next man to the moon in 2024 to prepare for the “next giant leap”. That of course, is human exploration of Mars which they hope to achieve by the early 2030’s.
