Joe Biden Accepts Presidential Nomination in Final Night of DNC

Former Vice President Joe Biden officially accepted his party’s presidential nomination in the fourth and final night of the Democratic National Convention. In his speech, Biden vowed to reunite the country which he said was currently facing four major crises: climate change, the economic downturn, racial tensions, and the pandemic. Biden criticized President Trump, calling his leadership divisive, fear-driven and dishonest. He vowed to bring the country out of this period of “darkness” and run an open presidency based on science and compassion. He added, “this is not a partisan moment. This is an American moment.”  However, Biden’s promises did not seem to impress President Trump who tweeted “in 47 years, Joe did none of the things of which he now speaks. He will never change, just words!” The president’s campaign further stoked tensions when they said Biden has become a “pawn of the radical leftists,” claiming his campaign was co-opted by the progressive wing of the party. Focus will now turn to the Republicans as the RNC begins on Monday.
