Facebook Removes Trump Campaign Ads for Violating Hate Policy

Facebook has removed several of President Trump’s ads in violation of their hate policy. The ads that began running earlier this week, attacked what the Trump Campaign described as “dangerous mobs of far-left groups” such as ANTIFA, and called for these groups to be designated as terrorist organizations. The ads also featured the image of an upside down triangle which the Anti-Defamation League said was a nearly identical symbol to the one Nazi’s used “to classify political prisoners in concentration camps.” Facebook’s official statement said “Our policy prohibits using a banned hate group’s symbol to identify political prisoners without the context that condemns or discusses the symbol.” It’s been confirmed the hate group they were referring to is Nazis. In response, the Trump Campaign claimed that same symbol was also used by ANTIFA, however this still has yet to be confirmed. The upside down red triangle is also not an official symbol of hate within the Anti-Defamation’s database.
