State of Missouri Announces Lawsuit Against China
The state of Missouri is suing China for how they handled the spread of the coronavirus. The lawsuit claims the Chinese government and other major institutions “deceived the public, suppressed crucial information, arrested whistle-blowers, denied human-to-human transmission in the face of mounting evidence, destroyed critical medical research, permitted millions of people to be exposed to the virus, and even hoarded personal protective equipment—thus causing a global pandemic that was unnecessary and preventable”. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of the state by Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt. The legal suit is predicted to be extremely laborious and difficult to win because china is protected by sovereign immunity. It’s reported in Missouri at least 229 people have died from the virus out of their 6,105 diagnosed cases.
