Michael Cohen Released Early From Prison

Michael Cohen is set to be released early from prison due to the pandemic. President Trump’s former personal attorney was in the middle of serving a three year sentence after pleading guilty to tax fraud, campaign finance violations and lying to congress. He was kept at a federal prison in New York and set to be released November 2021. A month ago he was denied a request for early release over coronavirus concerns. But since then, fourteen inmates and seven staff members have tested positive. Now, Cohen will serve the remainder of his sentence confined from home following a fourteen-day quarantine. Cohen isn’t the only well-known white collar criminal who will be released, either. Michael Avenatti, the attorney who represented Stormy Daniels, was granted a temporary 90-day release from a jail in New York while he awaits sentencing. He will stay at a friend’s home in California and will not be allowed to use the internet. After the 90 days, he will have to voluntarily turn himself in.
