World Leaders Talk of Possible Global Truce Amid Pandemic

It was just announced there are talks in the works for a possible global ceasefire truce amid the pandemic. French President Emmanuel Macron is leading the movement. He says if there was ever a time to do so, it is now when the entire world is suffering from the effects of coronavirus. He says he has spoken with multiple world leaders already including President Donald Trump, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and even the President of China, all who have agreed they would participate. Macron also has high hopes that Russian President Vladimir Putin will also agree to a possible truce. Other worldwide public figures, including Pope Francis, have recently called for an “immediate global ceasefire”. UN Secretary-General António Guterres has also issued similar sentiments, saying “The fury of the virus illustrates the folly of war. It is time to put armed conflict on lockdown and focus together on the true fight of our lives.”
