Patients Die in Hallways as U.S. Hospitals Become Overwhelmed

Confirmed coronavirus cases in the U.S. has topped 438,000 with the death toll nearing 16,000. New York has reached a milestone as it now has more cases that any other country in the world. Michigan has reported the third largest number of cases in the U.S. with just over 20,000 cases. A hospital in Detroit has reported they’ve become so overwhelmed with patients that at least two people have died in the hallways of the ER. Workers at Sinai-Grace Hospital, part of the Detroit medical center system, say there are not enough supplies, not enough rooms, and not enough staff to get to all the patients in time. In California, even more chaos has ensued as a result of COVID-19. Dozens of patients had to be evacuated and re-located to other nursing home facilities yesterday. This was because employees just stopped showing up to work after dozens of patients and several staff tested positive. The second day of no-shows prompted thirty-three other nurses to be brought in to care for and move the patients.
