FBI Warns Zoom Users of “Zoombombing”
The FBI has issued an official warning for Zoom users whose calls may be getting hacked. It’s called “zoombombing” and it’s a form of cyber harassment where video calls are “hijacked by unidentified individuals and trolls who spew hateful language or share graphic images.” As people remain confined to their homes, they are forced to use the site for both work and personal reasons. It has led to a surge of users and therefore, a surge in threats. The issue of zoombombing has become so prevalent this week the FBI felt it necessary to issue a formal warning. A Zoom spokesperson said “we are deeply upset to hear about the incidents and we strongly condemn such behavior.” In response, the company has shared a few hacking-prevention tips. They include not clicking on any suspicious links, adjusting your screen share options and utilizing their security features.
