Cases of Coronavirus in South Carolina Rise to 780
DHEC announced 113 new cases of coronavirus in South Carolina yesterday bringing the state total to almost 780 confirmed cases. The death toll has also risen to 15. Governor Henry McMaster has issued a new order activating the National Guard. He also granted DHEC emergency powers. 911 dispatchers are now be required to ask anyone calling for help if they or anyone close to them has tested positive for COVID-19. Additionally, Governor McMaster has enacted anti-price gouging laws, restricted access to places such as prisons and nursing homes, and required all colleges finish out the 2020 spring semester online. It’s also been reported Horry County police are also doing their best to maintain social distancing orders. They have issued at least ten citations to violators.
