Man Dies After Attempting to Self-Medicate for Coronavirus

An Arizona man is dead and his wife in critical condition after attempting to self-medicate for coronavirus. Many studies being conducted right now involve a number of drugs and chemicals that could possibly become treatments for COVID-19. One of these includes the chemical compound chloroquine phosphate. It’s commonly used for cleaning fish tanks, however it has been approved by the FDA to treat ailments such as malaria, lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis. It has not been approved for coronavirus and it is most certainly not approved to treat anything in the form it is used to clean aquariums with. However, the unnamed Arizona couple did not know this. They had chloroquine in their house since they used to own koi fish. Thirty minutes after ingesting,they both began to feel extremely ill. This led to the man’s tragic death and his wife’s hospitalization. Health experts are urging Americans not to ingest any household chemicals or products in the hopes of self medicating against the virus. Especially not ones that haven’t been approved.
