Novel Coronavirus Continues to Spread Worldwide
The coronavirus has now infected over 108,000 and killed more than 3,800 worldwide. Most of northern Italy has been placed under lock-down which will affect nearly 16 million people and last until early April. This comes after the country announced it would be shutting down all schools and universities for the next two weeks in attempt to contain the outbreak. Italy has become the most impacted European country with their number of infectious cases experiencing a major spike over the weekend. As of yesterday, there were 7,375 confirmed cases and 366 deaths.
Meanwhile, in the U.S., off the west coast, Grand Princess Cruise Ship passengers are preparing to depart. Currently, there are 21 people aboard confirmed to have the virus. Approximately 1,000 people from the ship will now be put under mandatory quarantine for the next two weeks on a California military base. The cruise line has confirmed they will offer passengers a 100% refund after being stranded for almost a week.
