The Waccatee Zoo Investigated for Possible Animal Abuse

Horry County police are investigating The Waccatee Zoo in Socastee following multiple complaints of possible animal abuse. Visitors started to notice Lila, a senior tiger living there, looked like she was losing fur and going bald. It sparked many concerns that the animal might be being abused at the facility. Law enforcement have said they’re taking these allegations extremely serious. They’ve already conducted a site visit and have begun interviews of several people caring for Lila. They’ve assured the public that Lila is not in immediate danger and is being well cared for as they await results of veterinary tests. The Waccatee Zoo continues to deny all allegations of animal abuse.
