Jay-Z, Yo Gotti Filing Lawsuits on Behalf of Mississippi Inmates

Jay-Z and Yo Gotti have just filed a second lawsuit against Mississippi prisons on behalf of the inmates living there. The Mississippi State Penitentiary, also commonly referred to as Parchman, has been the source of recent controversy following the deaths of at least nine inmates since the start of this year. Their deaths were either self inflicted or resulted from gang violence. Former inmates filed the first lawsuit several weeks ago claiming the conditions at the prison were “barbaric.” They said they were filthy, riddled with bugs, mold, contaminated water, and understaffed with neglectful guards. They argue all these factors fostered a violent and repressive atmosphere that caused all the deaths. The new lawsuit filed by the rappers are demanding the closure of Parchman and for state leaders to address all their major issues within 90 days or shut the notorious prison down.
