New Report Suggests Violent Crime Was Down in Myrtle Beach Last Year
Violent crime in Myrtle Beach was down in 2019! This is according to Myrtle Beach Police Chief Amy Prock’s annual report. She made the announcement that last year showed a 13% drop in violent crimes from the previous year in yesterday’s city council meeting. Prock also mentioned that burglaries and motor vehicles thefts dropped by more than 50% since 2013. Unfortunately, larcenies were slightly higher in 2019. This is possibly attributed to people with drug addictions committing thefts to support their habits. Overall though, the decrease in violent crimes is a source of good news.
