Heiress of Hot Pockets Sentenced to Five Months in Prison

The heiress of Hot Pockets has been sentenced to five months in prison. 49-year-old Michelle Janavs’ sentence also includes she pay a $250,000 fine and two years of supervised release after prison. Janavs is just the latest high-profile parent to be sentenced in connection to the college admissions scandal. She faced heavier charges than some of the other parents after she plead guilty to conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering. She admitted to bribing consultants and officials with upwards of $300,000 in order to get her daughters into good schools. Janavs initially faced a suggested sentence of 21 months. Her attorney says the sentencing reflects her truly good nature. Her lawyer has also confirmed that she realizes what she’s done was wrong and will be working for the rest of her life to make up for it.
