Senator Bernie Sanders Claims Victory in Nevada Caucus

Senator Bernie Sanders claimed a major victory at the Nevada caucus over the weekend.  He won with 46.8% of the vote. In second place was former Vice President Joe Biden. This is a serious improvement for him who previously took fourth and third places in Iowa and New Hampshire. However, he only received 20.4% of the vote, which is a dramatic decrease from Sanders results. Claiming third place was former mayor Pete Buttigieg with 13.9% of the vote, which again marks another major gap between the candidates. Elizabeth Warren and Tom Steyer respectively came in fourth and fifth place. Buttigieg’s campaign has reported there were “material irregularities” in the Nevada caucus results. But instead of asking for a recount, they’ve simply asked the party take several crucial steps in the future to avoid these inconsistencies. Now the candidates are looking forward to the primary taking place in South Carolina this weekend.
