Ryan Newman in Serious Condition Following Daytona 500 Finish Line Crash
NASCAR driver Ryan Newman is in serious condition following a dramatic and fiery crash at the Daytona 500 last night. It looked like 42-year-old Newman was set to win his second ever Daytona 500 as he took the lead in the final lap when he attempted to block competitor Ryan Blaney who bumped him and spun his car out of control. Newman smashed into the barricade, flipped upside down and crashed into Corey Lajoie’s car, before coming to a fiery skidding stop on the track still upside down. He is in serious condition but doctors have reported that his injuries are non-life threatening. And in a photo finish that revealed he won by just inches, Denny Hamlin won the race. He just barely beat out Blaney, who spun out Newman. This is Hamlin’s second win in a row. He has in total won three of the last five Daytona’s.
