Over 1,000 former DOJ Officials Call for William Barr’s Resignation
More than 1,110 former justice department officials, both republican and democrat alike, have called for the resignation of Attorney General William Barr. This comes just days after the DOJ undermined the sentencing on the Roger Stone trial and suggested a far lesser one. This led all the federal prosecutors on the case to immediately withdraw. Shortly after, Barr gave a very unusual interview where he rebuked the president and ordered closer examinations of other politically charged cases connected to Trump. It’s believed to be a highly politicized and calculated move by Barr in order to save his job and maintain relations between the public and the president. Recent actions by Barr are considered to be extremely damaging to the reputation and integrity of the DOJ. Officials claim he is doing the president’s bidding and therefore the rare and formal statement demanding his resignation has been issued.
