Virginia’s House Officially Passes Assaults Weapons Ban
Virginia’s House has officially approved the “assault weapons” ban. Democrats gained control of Virginia’s house and senate in the most recent election and have wasted no time passing measures against gun violence. The assault weapons ban in Virginia has essentially become the epicenter of a national issue as they work to bring an end to the continued mass shootings in our country. Now the bill will move to Virginia’s senate where democrats only have a two-seat majority. This means they can only afford to lose one vote in order to get it approved. Virginia republicans heavily oppose this bill and have demonstrated so in many ways. This includes a pro-gun rally that thousands attended. Virginia’s governor even declared themselves in a temporary state of emergency leading up to the rally after threats were made from militia and hate groups. However, the rally ended peacefully.
