Trump Administration Proposes Budget Plan for 2021
The Trump Administration proposed a new budget for 2021 that would heavily impact health care and other safety net programs. Changes to medicare, health care and other assistance programs is projected to save around $844 billion dollars over 10 years mainly by reducing payments to providers. They also mentioned eliminating enhanced federal match for medicaid expansion enrollees but have not provided much more detail concerning how they intend to execute these savings. The president has been clear that programs mainly benefiting seniors will not be negatively affected by these cuts. Other programs which have been targeted are food stamps and disability programs. The 4.8 trillion dollar budget proposal is being considered mainly the president’s “wish list”, however they do believe some of their proposed cuts will make it through the democratic majority house.
