Man Attempts Multiple Times to Assassinate NYC Police Officers
A gunman was arrested shortly after two failed attempts to kill police officers in the Bronx just twelve hours apart. It’s believed 45-year-old Robert Williams approached a patrol van and fired at officers inside. He wounded one before taking off on foot. Then, just hours later, Williams walked into the headquarters of the 41st Precinct in the Bronx where he opened fire again. He hit a lieutenant in the arm and just missed another officer before running out of bullets, willingly laying down and tossing his pistol. The two officers wounded are both expected to make a full recovery. Williams had a previous criminal record which included another officer-involved shooting in 2002. He was paroled in 2017. It’s been reported Williams’ grandmother said he was upset because his only child was shot and killed in the streets of the Bronx. Williams is being charged with attempted murder, criminal weapon possession and resisting arrest.
