South Carolina Hall of Fame in Myrtle Beach Inducts New Members Today

The South Carolina Hall of Fame in Myrtle Beach inducted three new members this morning. South Carolina artist, doctor Leo Twiggs, Elizabeth Evelyn Wright, a founder of Voorhees College and singer Darius Rucker were those honored at the ceremony around 10:30 A.M. The goal of the Hall of Fame is not only to commemorate those serving the community, but also educate youths as several school history groups witnessed this morning’s ceremony. Karen Riordan, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, says this particular event is unique because “typically state hall of fame’s are in capital cities.” Former inductees include businesswoman Darla Moore, President Andrew Jackson and astronaut Ronald McNair.
