President’s State of the Union Address Being Highly Criticized
President Trump hosted his third State of the Union last night. He gave what is being considered one of the most highly politicized speeches in modern times as he spent the majority of it recalling events that have occurred while he was in office that he considers to be major wins for his party. This included construction on the border wall, the controversial killing of Iran’s top general Quasem Soleimani, and the decision to reduce funding to programs like food stamps. And in an unprecedented move, the president even awarded the Medal of Freedom to conservative radio personality Rush Limbaugh who announced earlier this week he was suffering from an advanced stage of lung cancer. The president also surprised a military wife and mother of two by reuniting her with her husband who had previously been deployed for seven months.
