Trump Administration Proposes Middle East Plan

The Trump Administration finally proposed a Middle East plan yesterday and Palestinians are not happy. President Trump has said it’s a realistic “two-state” solution where neither Palestinians nor Israelis would be uprooted from their home. But it did favor Israel’s demands over Palestine. It allows for the annexing of all settlements in the West Bank by Israel regardless of Palestinian support. Jerusalem would also remain as Israel’s “undivided capital.” And after a period of time the U.S. would recognize Israeli sovereignty. Meanwhile, the establishment of a Palestinian state with limited sovereignty will be granted only after a “transition period” with eventual claim to a small part of the “capital in Eastern Jerusalem.” The plan also does not address many other concerns Palestinians have which is believed to be a direct result of zero contact between negotiators and the Trump Administration in over two years.
