Eight People Dead After Fire at Alabama Dock

At least eight people are dead following a fire that destroyed about 35 boats on an Alabama dock yesterday evening. The scene is reported to be in total chaos. Many people were unaccounted for as some jumped overboard and swam away while others left in private cars before authorities could confirm their whereabouts. Some boats sank immediately while others floated off before sinking. The dock had completely collapsed which prevented officials from getting to the remaining boats for search and rescue efforts. They believe some people may still be trapped but it could take several days to locate them. The cause of the fire is currently unknown. seven people were hospitalized for minor injuries but have since been released. Some of the boats did serve as residents’ homes so it’s believed several people have been displaced as a result.
