New York Times Endorses Warren, Klobuchar for 2020 Election

The New York Times Editorial Board has announced their endorsement for democratic candidates Senators Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar. This comes just a week after the seventh democratic presidential debate in Iowa in which Warren accused Senator Bernie Sanders of privately saying to her that a woman cannot become president. The endorsement will ultimately not predict who will win but it’s still historic because they’ve endorsed two women in a time when gender politics and sexism have been a big underlying issue in the U.S. The New York Times suggested Warren would be flexible, and therefore more effective than some other more obstinate opponents. And they compared Klobuchar to that of Joe Biden, but suggested where he fell flat as the standard democratic center, she shined through. The official endorsement was signed off with “may the best woman win.”
