Attacker Arraigned

The would-be New York City bomber who tried to detonate explosives in the Manhattan subway has been arraigned.

Terror suspect Akayed Ullah has gone before a judge. The Bangladeshi immigrant was arraigned Wednesday, appearing on a video monitor from his hospital bed. The twenty-seven year old is still wrapped in bandages from Monday’s failed subway bombing, and is now facing five federal terrorism charges. Authorities believe he was trying to kill himself, but, the bomb was not packed tightly enough and didn’t fully detonate. The few people injured are expected to recover. Ullah claims to have been inspired by ISIS — investigators say he started following the work of a radical Muslim preacher who is currently in jail for religious killings and attacks. Counter-terrorism officials are probing any possible connections to organized extremists.
