Graham-Cassidy Collapse

At least three Senate Republicans plan to vote 'no' on the latest GOP effort to dismantle Obamacare, seriously damaging the Graham-Cassidy bill's chances of passage.

A serious blow has been dealt to the Graham-Cassidy bill, the GOP’s latest attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Senator Susan Collins of Maine says she will vote no. She joins Senators John McCain and Rand Paul in opposing the legislation. Collins has identified where she thinks the bill falls short, like not enough medicaid funding, or protections for people with pre-existing conditions. Senator Paul believes the bill doesn’t go far enough. According to the CBO’s preliminary study, the bill would reduce the deficit by more than $133 billion, but millions of Americans would lose insurance. The Graham-Cassidy bill has undergone several revisions, in hopes of winning other key votes.
