Rep. Nancy Mace said that Lindsay Clancy should be publicly executed.
The Massachusetts woman is facing a possible new trial for allegedly murdering her three young children after a judge declared a mistrial. The mistrial came due to one hold out juror that caused a week of deliberations to fail to reach a verdict.
The South Carolina Republican said, “She should get the death penalty. It should be public, it should be a public execution,” adding Clancy “deserves nothing less” than such a punishment.
The Plymouth County District Attorney has not said whether he will retry the case. A court hearing on the case is scheduled for Sept. 29 at Plymouth Superior Court, with Clancy being held at a psychiatric facility until then.
