Trump picks SC Gov. Nikki Haley to be US ambassador

It has been a big week for South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, and today, she has reportedly accepted president-elect Donald Trump’s offer to be ambassador to the UN.

Trump tapping the 44 year old two-term governor as he heads to Florida for the Thanksgiving holiday. Haley, who was an outspoken Trump critic throughout much of the presidential race met the incoming president last week at Trump Tower.

Haley, the daughter of Indian immigrants, has served as the Palmetto State’s first female and first minority governor. If confirmed by the Senate, she would become the first female cabinet-level official in the Trump administration.
